Scholarships of between ₹ 3,000/- & 10,000/- were given to 34 students including 15 girls and 20 school students from economically weaker families of Darbhanga Dt here at Paanchajanya Centre this evening on the occasion of 141st birthday of Dr Rajendra Prasad, first President of India, celebrated as Merit Day in Bihar. Scholarships awarded by CR Kothari Memorial Public Charitable Trust of Vadodara are given every year to students selected for merit and work in art, craft or social field. Chief Guest Dr Om Prakash, eminent surgeon of Darbhanga, spoke about his own struggles and urged the students to work ceaselessly to achieve the goal. Sanjay Jayaswal of Mithila Art Institute Madhubani spoke about careers in arts. Prof Pradeep Kant Choudhary, formerly of Delhi University, presided. Profs Sanjiv Kumar Chaudhary of BITS Pilani, Mr Mukesh Kumar Jha of Dr Prabhat Das Foundation and scholarship awardees Ayush Kumar and Muskan Kumari also spoke on the occasion. A past awardee, Ajeet Kumar, M Sc (Physics), IIT Madras was also present. Anthem of Kothari Memorial Trust was sung by awardees Stuti, Richa & Samisha. Programme began with prayers by Neetu Kumari, Music Teacher of +2 School, Pindaruch accompanied on Tabla by Md Shamshad of Darbhanga, and ended with thanks by Prof Vinay Kumar Choudhary, formerly of B M University, Saharsa. Vote of thanks was proposed by Prof Vinay Kumar Choudhary, of B M University, Saharsa.
