Pindaruch, 02 Oct., 2024
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with due austerity at Paanchajanya Centre here today. On this occasion, a quiz on the family and education of Mahatma Gandhi was conducted. It was followed by a discussion on the relevance of Gandhi today.

Including 59 girls, 102 selected students from schools & colleges of Darbhanga district took part in the quiz. Fewer students joined the discussion.

27 students were given cash prizes of various sums, but no student did as well as expected. Only two boys got 16/25 to win the top prize. Two others got 15 and came second. Another two got 13 and came third. Twenty students who got between 8 and 12 were given consolation prizes. A girl from a neighbouring village got a special prize for her presentation on the relevance of Gandhi today.

Lec-dem Session on Why and How Science

Science is not magic, it’s logic. It lives through replicable experiments, without them science education is incomplete, said Dr Yogendra Pathak Viyogi, the well-known nuclear scientist & science educator. He was talking to teachers and senior students at a lec-dem session on ” WHY & HOW SCIENCE EDUCATION ” organised by Paanchajanya P C Trust (Regd ) on Monday, 09 May 2022 at the High School Pindaruch. Dr Pathak lamented that these days science was being taught without any experiments, without even those that cost nothing. As a result in national science fairs, students from other states brought dozens of projects, Karnataka recently had 183, but Bihar was barely able to show two or three. Dr Viyogi also demonstrated a pin dancing in a flow of electrical current, making litmus paper with local flowers, producing electrical current through a magnet in a bottle, etc. He also shared some of Mr Arvind Gupta’s videos of experiments for science education.

On this occasion, many students spoke about the value of science & science education. Mr Kusheshwar Sahni, Head Master of the School, presided.
